First Time Guests

What to Expect

If this is your first time at First Baptist, we are so happy you chose to Worship with us and hope you feel welcomed. Below are some commonly asked questions. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Where is First Baptist located?

Our church is on the corner of Nash Street and Walnut Street. The physical address is 111 N. Walnut St., Spring Hope, NC.

Where do I go once I arrive?

There is a paved parking lot right beside our church. The first building is our Educational Building & Fellowship Hall. Our Sunday school classes are held inside as well as the nursery, and we have our meals in the Fellowship Hall.

The building with the beautiful stained-glass windows is our Sanctuary. Worship is held here. Come in through either door. An usher will be there to greet you.

Are your facilities accessible?

Yes. We have a ramp at the side door of our Educational Building. There is also a ramp leading into our Sanctuary. Our bathrooms located in the Educational Building are also accessible and include a baby changing station in the Women's Room.

What do I wear?

At First Baptist, you will see people wearing everything from suits and dresses to casual pants and shirts. Come as you are and worship with us.

What happens in the worship service?

Our service will start at 10:30 am on Sunday, and will usually last an hour. We will sing songs, have time to pray, and our pastor will preach a sermon.

What about my kids?

Our church values the connection of families. We invite children to stay with their families during the worship service.

We also offer a nursery during worship services for parents with infants and toddlers. Our nursery is located in the Educational Building. Our nursery volunteers love children and are excited to care for your child during church. Please see an usher to direct you to our nursery if you would like to utilize this ministry.

Does anything else happen during the week?

Yes. Our choir meets to practice on Wednesdays at 6:00 pm. We will occasionally have a guest speaker or a meal. You are always invited to come.

How do I become a member of First Baptist?

If you have never joined a church before and want to participate in what we do at First Baptist, we encourage you to meet with our pastor. He will talk to you about what it means to believe in Jesus, and how our beliefs can transform our lives. At First Baptist, we believe one who accepts Jesus should proclaim their faith to others. This is shown to others through the symbolic action of baptism.

If you are a member of another church and wish to move your membership to First Baptist, meet with our pastor. If it has been a while since you have been to a church and wish to join us, that’s ok. Feel free to meet with our pastor about becoming a member.

What are some ways I can get involved?

Our church is always looking for ways to help people in need. We read about Jesus doing this in the Gospels, and we seek to do what Jesus teaches.
